Nice but...

git can do it as well.

One can configure git to

- scream on you when this kind of whitespace is found
- automatically remove it [*]

e.g.

$ git config --global core.whitespace \
     trailing-space,space-before-tab,indent-with-non-tab

ps - I noticed some of our editors do not insert EOL in the very EOF and 
my vim is fixing this constantly - if you can check our your settings 
that could be nice too
