problem with %pre script writing to /tmp

Well I found the solution to my problem. It turns out it is a well known 
Fedora bug and I only had to pass 'allowcddma' at the boot prompt and 
things were fine ...

Turns out it was nothing to do with my script at all - tough one to 
debug there.
