You probably want to use

  virDomainCreateXML()

instead of the non-existent virConnectCreateXML() :)

You should also probably post questions such as this one to
libvirt-users, a mailing list dedicated to users of libvirt,
rather than to libvir-list, which is for the development of
libvirt itself.
