Heya,
I will setup for a regular user, but as for connection, as follows :
I opened virt-manager, defined a new connection :
Hypervisor : QEMU/KVM
* Connect to remote host
Method : SSH
Username : root
Hostname : 192.168.1.201
Generated URI : qemu+ssh://root@192.168.1.201/system

Whats the connection string your using?
Also Id recommend not using root and giving a normal user account full
libvirt control via policykit. I have an example here,
