You can even be more restrictive/explicit:
filter = [ "r|/dev/cdrom*|", "r|/dev/cdrw*|", "r|/dev/dvd*|",  
"r|/dev/hd[ab]|" ]

(my drives are /dev/hda and /dev/hdb)
