Log message:
	Fix gcc warnings for missing headers and prototypes
	
	Add missing header  string.h (strcmp, strndup).
	Add 'static' to fix missing prototypes gcc warning.
	Remove unused variables verbose_off, TESTDIR, PREFIX.
