Managing 1000 private iSCSI LUN's - is no way be easier/difficult than
NFS.
Since in this case we are not expecting high throughput applications
either NFS or iSCSI would do.

I must not be understanding the usage and administration model you
anticipate.
Why would 1000 private luns be better than NFS ?
