This is a combination of Linux rendering and font size. Upping the font base should fix it.

I agree. We have heard this multiple times and are going to up the base size to 12. This size is standard and does not involve too many major changes to existing elements.

Trends in design are just that. We need to be aware of the trends, but we also need to do what is right for the project in terms of branding, usability, etc. The PatternFly visual language was built specifically for enterprise IT applications. It would not be appropriate to use a UI style built for a consumer mobile app in government systems management software. For PatternFly the basis was to create a simple clean UI that is adaptable in a variety of environments. Something which does not closely follow the trends. Things like square corners exist to eliminate visual noise and are supported by all browsers. The visual design started out as flat, but based on initial tests indicated a gradient was needed to indicate an object is actionable. You will see that the gradients that exist here are very subtle and used sparingly. The goal is to have PattrnFly primarily informed by testing data - the initial results have been positive.

We will look out for this in testing.
