We did look at TeX, PostScript, etc _ages_ ago and there was always something that made them more difficult that it was worth.

A lot of that stuff was basic usability that may be resolved today, like the learning curve to do brand customisations, or portability (I'm looking at you Windows (TM)).

Happy to take patches that allow people to switch to their tool chain of choice though.
