[Pulp-list] does pulp require a repomd.xml file to sync

Hello,
I'm still learning Pulp and ran across an issue I need help understanding. Example scenario ... would like to use Pulp to sync http://pkgs.repoforge.org/nmon/ , but repoforge does not provide a repomd.xml file for the different packages which I'm guessing is why I get this error when trying sync -

Downloading metadata...
[-]
... failed

Not Found
Task Failed
Importer indicated a failed response

So, the question is, does Pulp require that the external repositories contain a repomd.xml file for the sync to work? And/or is there another way to use Pulp to sync to an external repo that doesn't contain a repomd.xml file?

Thank you,
Patrick Swartz
