It's not uncommon for gdm to have an issue like that.  A restart of
gdm usually fixes it.  That can be accomplished by:

	1. Running "kill `pidof gdm`" from a standard console
	(CTRL-ALT-F12,ALT-F1, login an issue command)

	2. "telinit 3", then "telinit 5"

	3.  Rebooting
