Ah! An upgrade! Yes, go to /etc/X11 and rename or delete the old
XFree86 config file. There are options in it that will interfere with
the Xorg stuff. Try to run with a pure Xorg file. You could even
delete both the XFree86 and Xorg configs and run "system-config-display"
to rebuild an Xorg file.
