Launcher

How does one edit a Launcher? I know how to make them but let's 
say I spell something wrong or want it to run in an ICON or would 
just like to know what I'm launching - how do I see that.  If I 
right click on the ICON I can see the properties but that doesn't 
tell me what I want to know, nor can I change anything.
