how to do mailing/SMS

Dear All,

I have two questions for you

1) from our database server we are supposed to send
mails or SMS some error messages (not form or rep
messages, they are realted to DBA) to the concern
persons, how should we do it..

2) I want to do remote coping of my tars, cpios thr'
shell, how should i do it..can sombody could share his
scripts with me...
