What are net-pf-10 and ipv6?

Could anyone please explain what these two things
(net-pf-10, ipv6) are? I found this link explaining
how to configure fedora core 4 after installation is
done.  The recommendation is to add these two lines to
my grub.conf:
	alias net-pf-10 off
	alias ipv6 off

I don’t want to do something if I don’t know the
consequences.  Thanks in advance for your help.
