ipv6, fedora 5, how to get ipv4 NOT 6 up and running

took me a few minutes to remember what file in /etc that was 
in. i dont like graphical boots from the get go. so that did 
come out. (ty knoppix for a good rescue disk).

how might one do that? i find it is very intrusive.
