No, if you simply taking the kernel from say kernel-2.2.17-586 to 
kernel-2.2.19-586, then all you need is the kernel upgrade rpm and
use the -i option. I've done this several times and other than once instance
I have had no problems. That one instance was a known bug that was fixed with
another update but that's another story.

One other thing, do I need all the kernel rpm's? kernel-boot, kernel-src
etc...?
