can you post the output from an ifconfig on both boxes ?

I think you may find that 192.168.0.71 is not actually the IP address of 
node2, the other thing you may want to try is posting the output of 

netstat -an | grep :22

when you are ssh'd from node2 to node1 (type this on node1 after logging 
in via ssh from node2)

are you using DHCP on node2 ?
