Mount/Mirrordir questions

Did you also create a file system on the partition?  If not, you won't
be able to mount it.

You normally don't need to specify the filesystem, but I'm guessing that
you haven't created a filesystem yet.  

# mkfs /dev/hdb9

Then try the mount again.
