    well, I *finally*got the ok to upgrade my SO's system, and I wound up
burning three CDs, and booting, and the install starts...and right after
I agree that it's upgrading a 7.3 system, and to go ahead, the install
crashes with python errors.

    I even let it check the validity of the media.

    Ever heard of something like this?

7.3 to 9 is a big jump and 9 isn't supported any more anyway (and hasn't
been for 6 months). I'd suggest that you be better off backing up the
important data and doing a fresh install of Fedora Core 3.

Upgrades are always risky and iffy on Linux. They work sometimes for
some people, but in general, avoid them if you can.

how to set my Redhat 9 server to auto restart process when the CPU usage for
that process hit a target limit?
eg. if httpd reach 80% of CPU usage to restart the apache.

That helps, even ...

rpm -qa | sort | pr --columns 3 -aT -W100

or

pr --columns 3 -aT -W100 rpm.txt

Very useful command.

Thank you.

Opps, thank you ...

rpm -qa | sort | column

outputs 2 columns very nicely. Had to go to

rpm -qa | sort |  column -c 100

to get the same thing.

This seems to be a bit more flexible ...

rpm -qa | sort | pr --columns 3 -aT -W100

Thanks.

Gotcha. Of course, this does not line up the columns, but (as you originally
said), could be input into something that processes tab delimited columns.

#!/usr/bin/perl
#
# Format STDIN into three tab-delimited columns
#
$colnum = 1;
while ($line = <STDIN>) {
 chomp $line;
 if ($colnum < 3) {
   print "$line "; # The whitespace is a tab character.
   $colnum = $colnum + 1;
 } else {
   print "$line\n"; $colnum = 1;
 }
}

Thanks again.
