Can't Play / Rip audio CD with ide-scsi emulation

Hello,
My machine is running RHEl 3 with one CD Burner in it. RHEL automatically
recognize the CD burner and use ide-scsi emulation by specifying hdd=ide-scsi
as kernel argument in grub.conf. Burning CD and read data CD works great.

However, I can't play or rip any audio CD. If I put in audio CD and run
gnome-cd, it would just display "Drive Error".

I tried to boot without ide-scsi emulation, then make the symlink /dev/cdrom
to point to /dev/hdd, and I can play audio CD just fine.

So my question is, is there a way to play audio CD with ide-scsi emulation ?

Goggle didn't help yet, unless I put in wrong keywords.

Thanks for any help.
