this is right way .
one more way is u have to write all stuff in /etc/rc.local file
so it will be perment when ever u r machine will be boot.u setting
will be restore automatically.like
open /etc/rc.local using your favourite editor and add this
lines...like this way.

/sbin/ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.2 netmaks 255.255.255.240 broadcase 192.168.1.15
/sbin/route add default gw 192.168.1.6
