The main difference between RedHat and the other community distros is support, if you are not interesting with support
why dont you use slackware, gentoo or ubuntu etc.. RedHat not selling license or something but support service.
The companies choosing RedHat because of there is a company behind. If something happen they know that there is someone
to call and also RedHat gives solution guarantee depens on service you buy. So what if your system collapse down because
of a 3rd party software that you installed which is not supported by RedHat? Who do you call? RedHat?
Why Redhat has Hardware and Software catalog? Why they are giving compatibility certification? Why they are testing it?
There is a serious work behind, For example wu-ftpd still has a bug, so what is the system hacked because of this bug who do you blame?
it's not about wu-ftp it's about software which is not supported by RedHat. You can use any software under RHEL distros but please know
this risk is your own.
