Command Line updates

How do I retrieve all the updates for RHL Fedora Core 3 via command line
interface rather than the update.  We are having some problems accessing any
applications form the desktop; however, command line is working fine.  Will
I have to specify the update or can I just download and install the updates
all at once?  Once I download them, will I have to kick off a program to
install the updates?
