Hello
I installed a vmware workstation 5.5
I installed a FC4 over the vmware wks
I installed the tools provided with vmware wks 5.5 on the fc4
I picked up the vmware-tools tgz file
I installed them on the FC4 in the esx server
They compiled and loaded fine
I changed modprobe.conf as indicated
I stopped the vm
I changed the nic from vlance to vmxnet
I rebooted the vm
It WORKS !!!
I had a very quick test with an ftp (650MB file) which transfered at 27
mbps (much mode than the 10 mbps limit of the vlance nic)

hope it will help others
