Xemacs find not working

Now that Xemacs isn't available on rhel5, I'm trying to compile it  
manually and for some reason the find function isn't working.  
Everything compiles fine, and all other functions seem to work, but  
the find. It just shows this error in the lower pane.

Image instantiator format is invalid in this locale:

I've tried multiple versions, and I'm using the xemacs-sumo tar ball.
