If that is the case, then you may need to use an HP controller command to retrieve the WWID or install HP controller software, somethin similar to powerpath or ECC for EMC

Singles disks or disk arrays with HP Controllers (like Smart Array
e200i) appears like this on Linux. At least with all HP Proliants I
have seen so far.
