OPEN ACPI failed

All,

I have a brand spanking new Dell R5400 with rhel 5.0 preloaded.  When
booting up, the display fails at the point that we should be entering the
initial configurations menus.

After booting into single-user mode and looking at the Xorg.0.log file, the
only error is the following:
OPEN ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) No such file or directory

What is missing or can I disable ACP???
