[rhelv6-beta-list] Simple 'ls -l' question

I've never seen this before:
# ls -l /etc/hosts
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root <etc>

What's with the "." after the rwx permissions?  I've never
seen/noticed that before.

Should I be embarrassed to ask?  Oh...  Too late.
