There are many different i960 and early StrongARM microcontroller designs
which are driven by a couple of different i960 and early StrongARM focused
drivers.

It wasn't that Adaptec RAID host adapters used Mylex controllers, but that
they (among countless others) leveraged the existing i960 and StrongARM
work for their own.

Again, these are all 15+ year-old designs. The i960 is a real slouch and the
early StrongARM was designed in the mid-'90s. It was completely redesigned
by Intel into the X-Scale series, which Intel sold several years ago to Marvell.

Several of these drivers have been deprecated or completely removed by
upstream, because few are maintaining them, if at all.

That may in fact be a controller of the Mylex family which is supported by
the DAC960 driver. It can be found in the list of discontinued drivers
http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6-Beta/html/Beta_Release_Notes/apcs02.html

IIRC a number of Adaptec RAID controllers were Mylex controllers.
