change the 'Modes' line (insert "1280x1024" for the first mode)

Modes "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

restart X or restart computer if you don't know how to restart X

xorg radeon on Fedora 8 doesn't seem to work very well (my experience)

You might search last weeks list for commentary on adding Livna and
installing kmod-fglrx
