The problem is that the normal channel for Red Hat only has the MySQL
client binaries. And the Server components are missing. I am
suspecting that you need to subscribe your system to the "Extras"
channel to get the server binaries.

Subject: [rhn-users] mysqld 3.23.58-2.3 init script missing
Hello All. Just stood up my first RH ES 3 box. Trying to get mysql
started, but I notice the obvious lack of an init.d script. I have
mysql-3.23.58-2.3 installed.
Does anyone know if the lack of an init script is by design?
Should I just grab my /etc/init.d/mysqld from my rh9 box (which has
package mysql-3.23.58-1.9)?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
