[rhn-users] question about x86_64 rpm's

Hi,
My question is are the x86_64 rpm's supposed to be supplemental to the 
i386 rpms or are they supposed to replace them. In other words when I do:

rpm -qa | grep glibc-devel

and get:

glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.19.i386
glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.19.x86_64

Is this normal? Are these both supposed to be there?
