[rhn-users] Gigabit transfer speeds

I regularly move large files from a windows XP machine to a Fedora Core 5 machine.
To avoid bothering other network users, I purchased two Linksys EG1032 gigabit ether net cards.
The cards have been installed. a direct PC to PC gigabit cross over cable connects them.
A separate set of IP address have been set up.
I can verify that data is being transfered over the gigabit cable with windows task manager.

Transfers over the 10/100 link show up at 82 or 83 percent - about 80 Mbps.
Transfers over the gigabit link show up at 20 to 26 percent - about 230 Mbps.

What do I have set up wrong?

Here is the ifconfig from fedora

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:14:BF:57:0B:E4
          inet addr:17.24.1.120 Bcast:17.24.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::214:bfff:fe57:be4/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:7000 Metric:1
          RX packets:38375755 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:20414068 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:1603308068 (1.4 GiB) TX bytes:2045200516 (1.9 GiB)
          Interrupt:217

The windows box is set up with
802.1Q/1p VLAN Tagging - disabled
Flow Control - enable
Jumbo Frame - 7KB MTU
Link Speed/Duplex Mode - 1000Mbps/Full Duplex
Network Address - not present
Offload Checksum - Tx/Rx Checksum
Offload TCP LargeSend - disable
Driver is C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\EG1032xp.sys

I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks!
