Tom,

RHEL 3 uses the 2.4 kernel while RHEL 4 uses 2.6. Building packages from
RHEL 4 on RHEL 3 will likely fail the dependency checks.

The compilers, tools, and libraries are different too. RHEL 4 uses gcc
3.4 while RHEL 3 uses 3.2 or 3.3 I believe.

Your best bet, to get the most up to date and most secure network
services is to move up to RHEL 4.
