It's important to note that uuencode is not MIME (it predates MIME and 
is not part of the MIME standard).  Not all MIME-compatible mail 
clients can understand uuencode.

Sorry this doesn't answer the OP's question.  uuencode may be good 
enough for that, else I guess it's Perl.
