Dear All,

i have installed redhat linux 9 to be used as a squid proxy server

it has 2 interfaces with one public IP and the other private IP


i also have another proxy redhat 8 with 2 interface cards and similar ip
settings

now the client have private ip and can ping or telnet both the interfaces
of the proxy server running redhat 8

but on the redhat 9 server the clients who have private IP can ping the
private ip interface of the server but not the other public interface and
the public ip client can ping or telnet the public ip interface of the
server but not the private IP . from the server i can ping any machine
with either interfaces


now i have verified and compared the routes and other ip settings with the
other redhat 8 server and its very similar

the proxy server works fine but sometimes clients do get page cannot be
displayed

jus wondering why

any advice will be highly appreciated
