If you don’t have your own dns server, then you should be able to use your
ISP’s dns server.

Really don´t know.

A recomendation from a firend who knows more about linux I did a:

Yum –y install bind bind-chroot bind-utils bind-libs caching-nameserver to
implement the dns.

And change de resolv.conf file with IP 127.0.0.1

Are in this file private IPs? Can you put here public DNS?

I've seen this happen when there are dns resolution problems. You may want
to verify that /etc/resolv.conf is setup correctly and that you are not
having any issues with your dns servers.

Sorry I am new to linux.

Well long is about 5 minutes, whenever I issue a useradd command or whenever
I login with any user other than root.

My system is a RHEL 5

| Why?

Maybe the shell is checking the $MAIL file, and NFS is involved?
You may need to tell us more about you system.
And how long is long? Time it. Is it always the same length?
