Last time I looked at this, I found the openshift community wiki
documentation to be out of date, and I failed to get a working openshift
installation. The wiki docs are still out of date now AFAICS.
You might find this summary of my alternate demo solution useful:

Basically I modified the openshift origin liveinst to allow it to launch via a
heat template - the exact same approach could be used to prepare a demo
image which could be used direct with nova on RHOS (skip the cfntools bit)
Obviously this is only useful for demo/PoC purposes, but perhaps may be
useful to you.
