Hi Rob

I've been looking into the issue where "yum update" fails, to do this I
scripted my installation of Spacewalk and have installed it over 20x
running
/usr/bin/spacewalk-repo-sync for CentOS 5.3, 5.4 and Fedora without a
single issue....however I've never included the epel repository, I'll
add it tonight
And see what happens.

Does this happen with any channel you try to sync or only with epel?

How are you creating your channel? I use the following:

        # CentOS 5.4
        LOGIN="--user administrator --password=xxxxxx --host=spacewalk"
        ARCH=" --channel-arch=\"channel-x86_64\""
        PARENT=" --parent=\"centos-5.4-x86_64-server\""

        ID_STRING="--name=\"CentOS Enterprise Linux (v. 5.4 for 64-bit
x86_64)\"  --summary=\"CentOS Enterprise Linux (v. 5.4 for 64-bit
x86_64)\""
        eval "create_channel.py $LOGIN
--label=\"centos-5.4-x86_64-server\" --parent=\"\" $ID_STRING $ARCH"

        ID_STRING="--name=\"CentOS Enterprise Linux CentOSPlus (v.
5.4)\"  --summary=\"CentOS Enterprise Linux CentOSPlus (v. 5.4)\""
        eval "create_channel.py $LOGIN
--label=\"centos-5.4-x86_64-centosplus\" $PARENT $ID_STRING $ARCH"

        ID_STRING="--name=\"CentOS Enterprise Linux Extras (v. 5.4)\"
--summary=\"CentOS Enterprise Linux Extras (v. 5.4)\""
        eval "create_channel.py $LOGIN
--label=\"centos-5.4-x86_64-extras\" $PARENT $ID_STRING $ARCH"

        ID_STRING="--name=\"CentOS Enterprise Linux Updates (v. 5.4)\"
--summary=\"CentOS Enterprise Linux Updates (v. 5.4)\""
        eval "create_channel.py $LOGIN
--label=\"centos-5.4-x86_64-updates\" $PARENT $ID_STRING $ARCH"

And I sync with:
       # CentOS 5.4
        URL="http://mirror.liteserver.nl/pub/centos/5.4"
        /usr/bin/spacewalk-repo-sync --channel centos-5.4-x86_64-server
--url $URL/os/x86_64/ --type yum --label centos5-base
        /usr/bin/spacewalk-repo-sync --channel
centos-5.4-x86_64-centosplus --url $URL/centosplus/x86_64/ --type yum
--label centos5-centosplus
        /usr/bin/spacewalk-repo-sync --channel centos-5.4-x86_64-extras
--url $URL/extras/x86_64/ --type yum --label centos5-extras
        /usr/bin/spacewalk-repo-sync --channel centos-5.4-x86_64-updates
--url $URL/updates/x86_64/ --type yum --label centos5-updates

hello to all

i try to run the command:

/usr/bin/spacewalk-repo-sync --channel epel-5.4-i386 --url
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386 --type yum --label
epel-5.4-i386

the download started and i see packages added to my sat. server.

but during the reposync the download stops and i can't login to the
spacewalk server any more.

output on screen
496/984 : globus-xio-popen-driver-devel-0.7-1.el5-0.i386
497/984 : perl-Pod-PseudoPod-0.15-1.el5-0.noarch
498/984 : roundcubemail-0.1.1-6.el5-0.noarch
499/984 : moodle-da-1.8.11-1.el5-0.noarch

the only solution i have now is to restore the database

who has seen this problem before?

regards rob
