Do you have repo configured in webUI (Channels > Manage Software
Channels > Manage Repositories)?

Which url ftp://user:pass@myhost/... or http://centos.mirrors.com/...?

Is taskomatic running RepoSyncTask job?
  # grep RepoSyncTask /var/log/rhn/rhn_taskomatic_daemon.log

% Do I have always perform the sync on command line from now (since I sync
% it from there)? How to investigate?

No. You can run it from taskomatic (set up from webUI) as well as from
comandline at the same time.

% For the (web-api) schedule the same, taskomatic is running (as far I can
% see - I miss some basic about java). BTW, the file
% '/etc/rhn/default/rhn_taskomatic_daemon.conf' has a lib path to oracle
% which isn't used here. Can I remove it?

It's redundant but any changes to default configs (moreover if you are
not 100% sure) will make your life harder.
