Hi

I use a similar method except, and this is more vmware than spacewalk or 
centos, I use the VMware tools to provision the server after it has been 
cloned from the template. It registers the machine in spacewalk, 
downloads and installs all patches, reboots, updates the vmware tools 
and lastly it changes the root password.
