This statement is largely inaccurate.
 
Linux will run on any POS (Piece Of Shoe-slime) hardware that Windows runs on, IF
 
1: Linux drivers for the hardware have been written
2: "run" is understood as a relative term.
 
Problems can be expected when the manufacturer of the hardware does not publish the
BIOS interface to the public.  The All-In-Wonder cards (AIUI) have this
problem: Excellent hardware, crippled by a manufacturer decision to NOT publish data
on how to talk to this family of cards, making Linux drivers basically impossible to write.
