Red Hat Engages Partners in EMEA with Mobile Masterclass Featuring the Red Hat Mobile Application Platform



Last week, Red Hat hosted a 3-day Mobile Masterclass in Frankfurt, Germany for more than 75 people representing 33 EMEA partners. Partners included global and regional System Integrators, Red Hat Middleware partners moving towards mobile as well as Mobile Specialists and ISVs. Partners represented 17 countries across EMEA.

The focus for the Mobile Masterclass is the Red Hat Mobile Application Platform and included dedicated content for sales and architects with parallel sessions running on Day 1 & 2 while developers had targeted sessions on Day 2 & 3. A key element of the Mobile Masterclass was the joint workshops with architects, sales / business development contacts and experienced Red Hat mobile specialists. Within these workshops partners discovered real-world experiences in working in teams and delivering a project proposal to a customer powered by Red Hat Mobile technology and received excellent networking and one-on-one access to the Red Hat Mobile team.

With this training a Red Hat Partner qualifies for the Red Hat Advanced partner status within the Red Hat mobile specialization in the Red Hat Solution Provider program.

Day 1

This included sales training, sales strategy, an architecture track and networking dinner. At the sales training the Red Hat Mobile Partner and Sales team began with discussing the history behind mobile and why it is such a transformative technology and further delved into key market and competitive analysis highlighting the strong opportunity ahead for partners and customers alike. Further discussions revolved around the role of the Mobile Application Platform (MAP) and what the core building blocks are to roll out an enterprise mobile solution. Later in this session Red Hat Mobile specialists made the case for deploying a MAP and provided a high level demonstration of the RH MAP. Sales training on day one ended with walking through some key Red Hat MAP case studies.

The “standing room only” Day 1 Architecture Track provided partners’ sales architects, developers and other technical folks on hand get a deeper architectural overview. The session began with a detailed demonstration and product deep dive of Red Hat MAP aimed at this technical group. Additional training geared specifically for solution architects and mobile developers followed. This group walked away with an understanding of the delivery and support process including Red Hat Mobile consulting resources available to the partners.

Day 2

Sales Track dug deeper into the sales process and began with further explanation of use cases and demonstrating customer wins of the RH MAP. Further discussions on the sales strategy, sales process, pricing model and go-to-market continued. On this second day, partners workshopped with real-life opportunities and worked together to deliver actual proposal for deployment of a Red Hat MAP offering. Here partners were able to leverage both the sales and architecture training to garner true exposure to an actual process of bringing a solution to a customer.

The Architecture track allowed for the partners’ technical team to build an actual use case from understanding the requirements to building and deploying the App on mobile devices. This activity allowed them to find the appropriate App type, set up a local development environment and build an App based on the requirements presented.

The day ended with one-on-one networking where partners worked with Red Hat Mobile sales and partner specialists. These discussions focused on customer opportunities as well as ways to further engage with Red Hat Mobile and go-to-market strategies.

Day 3

This was a full day of hands on developer training delivered by a team of Red Hat Mobile consultants. The day enabled developers to implement a detailed use case with hands on building in the RH MAP console. Developers worked with some of the key components of the platform such as online /offline data sync API, UI building with backbone js, master/detail page development, local data store development, access to database and cache in the cloud and interfacing with multiple data sources.

Throughout the 3 days partners got exceptional access to the experts of the Red Hat Mobile Partner, Sales, Engineering and Consulting teams and walked away with an Advanced Partnership status, new opportunities and a better understanding of the Red Hat MAP. Partners look to move this momentum to further engage existing and new customers toward this large enterprise mobile opportunity with a strong partner in Red Hat to work closely with them
