Network functions virtualization (NFV) offers a wealth of benefits such as cost savings, increased efficiency and elasticity. However, NFV must also deliver on five-nine availability* or higher to achieve a true telco-grade service offering. While virtualization and clouds bring agility and cost savings to the mix, carrier grade resiliency challenges still exist.
Telco providers are looking for solutions to achieving carrier-grade NFV service, and we are thrilled to be speaking on a panel at this week’s OpenStack Summit on this very topic. Our panel presenters will provide recommendations on how virtual network functions (VNFs) can leverage existing OpenStack constructs in an efficient and intelligent manner to help achieve five-nine availability. We’ll also identify and explore any new OpenStack constructs that are required to enable high availability.
The session, entitled “Achieving Five-Nine of VNF reliability in Telco-grade OpenStack Cloud” will be presented Wednesday, April 27 from 1:50 – 2:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center, level 4, ballroom D. Presenters from Intel, Ericsson and AT&T will join Red Hat’s Rimma Iontel, a senior solutions architect who is working to build the Red Hat NFV ecosystem.
