Kick off OpenStack Summit Barcelona with an evening of network functions virtualization (NFV) insight and networking at Red Hat’s NFV Mini-Summit on October 23, 2016, at 4 p.m. Join Red Hat, our customers, our partners and Heavy Reading telecom analyst Rosalyn Roseboro for the unveiling of her carrier grade 2.0 research results around NFV and NFV-I platforms. (Did you know 90 percent of telcos are already defining their NFV strategy, planning to execute on it, or already doing so?)
We will explore the industry’s challenges, successes and how service providers are applying new technologies and approaches toward the evolution of carrier grade to an open source NFV platform, with insight from industry leaders including Intel, F5, Tech Mahindra, Ericsson, China Mobile, KDDI, Cisco and Dell.
For example, Ericsson’s Susan James will talk about leveraging the full potential of SDN/NFV, with details on how a 5G-ready core – based on SDN, NFV, distributed cloud, network slicing, analytics, and orchestration – allows people, enterprises, devices and applications to decide on connectivity requirements automatically, enabling ICT to move into new markets and build new revenue streams. And China Mobile’s Zhhang XiaoGuang will provide details about NovoNet, China Mobile’s future network brand. NovoNet’s vision is a data center internetwork based on telecommunication integrated cloud (TIC), which is designed to enable future networks through NFV, software defined networking (SDN) and resource sharing. The telco has already launched the NovoNet test project, and XiaoGuang will share details about the project in this must-see presentation.
The event will be held at the Hotel Barcelona Princess. Cocktails and networking will follow from 7 to 9 p.m. A full agenda can be found on Red Hat’s OpenStack Summit Barcelona site under the “ancillary events” tab.
And during your OpenStack Summit experience, join Red Hat and Ericsson to celebrate our partnership on Tuesday, October 25 from 7:30 p.m. – 2:30 a.m. at the El Boo Restaurant and Beach Club. Make sure to register for both the mini-summit and Red Hat Ericsson celebration. We look forward to seeing you in Barcelona!
