Red Hat partners with customers to showcase next-gen telco solutions at Mobile World Congress

We’re at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona this week, and are excited to host multiple demos in our booth. Red Hat is showcasing a number of customer demos, which highlight how communications service providers (CSPs) are using open source and cloud technologies to deliver next-generation telecommunications services. Keep reading for a sneak peek of what we’ll be sharing with customers at this year’s event, and stop by our booth, 2G40 in Hall 2, in the conference center, to check them out in person.

The Finnish telecommunication service provider and Red Hat customer Elisa has one of the highest mobile data usage rates in the world. Because of this, automation has been the key to manage data growth, reduce operational costs and investments, and improve Elisa’s customer experience. Automation software, Elisa SON, is an agile software for operators to improve mobile network optimization. Elisa SON includes a set of field-proven multivendor use cases, a software development kit (SDK) for building algorithms and network visualization, and an in-browser viewer experience for closed-loop scheduling and observation. Elisa and Red Hat are demonstrating the use and the benefits of the Elisa SON solution in a telco environment in the Red Hat booth at Mobile World Congress 2018.

MYCOM OSI is showcasing its cloud-native Experience Assurance and Analytics solution that uses Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Ceph Storage – a solution that Three in the United Kingdom is using to assure a telco cloud built on a network functions virtualization infrastructure (NFVI) and software-defined networking (SDN). As well as the Three UK use case, MYCOM OSI is able to discuss two other customer case studies, including one of the top five largest CSPs globally that has deployed MYCOM OSI’s Experience Assurance and Analytics solution using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Ceph in its reference architecture. The technology is also being demonstrated in MYCOM OSI’s booth, 1A42 in in Hall 1.

With HPE Virtual Headend Manager, virtualize the video headend and launch channels in minutes through resource management, configuration and monitoring capabilities for virtualized media functions that are part of a Video headend. This enables video operators and broadcasters to instantiate live linear and over-the-top (OTT) channels, which can reduce the required time to configure and launch a new channel to minutes, compared to weeks or months with manual headend operations. HPE, in collaboration with Red Hat, is showcasing the solution in the Red Hat booth to demonstrate the use and the benefits of this solution in in a telco environment.

In addition, Red Hat is hosting technology demonstrations in our booth from our customer Three in Ireland showcasing Red Hat Mobile Application Platform, and from Telenor Group showcasing a containerized VoLTE service using Altiostar vRAN, Affirmed Networks vEPC, Openet vPCRF, Metaswitch vIMS and Red Hat NFV solution. We hope you’ll stop by our booth, 2G40 in Hall 2, in the conference center, and check out the exciting technology demos we have to share!
