This year at Red Hat Summit, May 8 -10 in San Francisco, telcos can count on hearing plenty about what matters most to them in 2018 – strategic insights and massively-scalable, open technologies and solutions that can help them deliver services like a public cloud. In demos and presentations, you can learn about network functions virtualization (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN), containers, IT automation, DevOps, OpenStack, digital transformation and more.
Summit will be held at San Francisco’s famed Moscone Center, telcos like Bell Canada and Telecom Italia, and partners like Accenture, Lenovo and Nokia’s Nuage Networks, along with Red Hat telco experts, will share their insights and experiences. Here’s a quick outline of telco sessions:
Tuesday, May 8
1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in Moscone South Room 158
In this interactive, self-paced, hands-on lab, you’ll learn about the architecture and approach of OpenDaylight when combined with Red Hat OpenStack Platform and deployed through the Red Hat OpenStack Platform director.
Red Hat team members Rhys Oxenham, manager of field and customer engagement; Nir Yechiel, principal product manager; Andre Fredette, technical director for networking; and Tim Rozet, principal software engineer will be presenting the session.
3:30 – 4:15 p.m. in Moscone West Room 2003
In this session, Bell Canada shares its journey transforming legacy applications into new modern applications, covering everything from how they integrated their legacy pipeline and software into a new microservices-based architecture and how they use agile and waterfall methods to build, test and deploy new services.
Bell Canada’s Marc Vaudry, team lead senior solution architect, will present with Bell Canada technical architects Amelie Cossette and Martin Ouimet.
Wednesday, May 9
11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Moscone West Room 2002
Learn more about Telecom Italia’s end-to-end NFV environment – based on Red Hat OpenStack Platform and now in production – for its cloud datacenter and critical VNFs which support core business services. Telecom Italia worked with Red Hat Consulting, as well as Ericsson as VNF vendor and Accenture as system integration.
Fabrizio Pezzella, Red Hat solution architect and Matteo Bernacchi, Red Hat architect, will be joined by Ivano Guardini, NFV Manager at Telecom Italia to present the session.
3:30 – 3:50 p.m. in Moscone West Room 2010
Telco operators are increasing their capacity and managing hardware obsolescence with NFV, to reduce the need for legacy hardware deployments. In this session, we’ll describe today’s 4G and IP-TV deployments, and how they are likely to transition from VM to containers for 5G and more.
This session will be presented by Franck Baudin, principal product manager of OpenStack NFV at Red Hat.
Thursday, May 10
11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Moscone West Room 2022
Lenovo and Red Hat join forces to teach you about the latest in Open Cloud solutions for NFV.
This session will be presented by Miroslav Halas, director of software architecture, cloud infrastructure at Lenovo and Azhar Sayeed, chief architect at Red Hat.
3:00 – 3:45 p.m. in Moscone West Room 2020
This session dives into Accenture’s newly-developed solution for SDN-WAN using Red Hat Ansible Tower and other open source technologies to deliver integration and automation capabilities.
Kyle Benson, alliance architect at Red Hat, will be joined by Ramesh Nagarajan, technology consulting principal director at Accenture, and Chadie Ghadie, business development at Nuage Networks from Nokia.
Of course, there will be plenty more at Red Hat Summit this year. We’ll highlight the endless possibilities of open source, and how it gives us a platform for imagination and innovation to explore next-gen technologies like artificial intelligence, automation, machine learning and hybrid cloud. Check out the agenda at-a-glance and full session catalog.
We’ll also celebrate our 2018 Red Hat Innovation Awards winners and announce the Women in Open Source awards and the Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year. We are having the sixth annual Red Hat Summit 5K Fun Run, sponsored by ARM, on Wednesday, May 9 to benefit Girl Develop It—a nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for women interested in web and software development. And if all that’s not enough, the Grammy Award-winning band Weezer will be performing at this year’s Red Hat Summit party on Thursday, May 10 at the San Francisco Armory!
We look forward to seeing you there!
