The future is open – is your business at risk?

Have you ever experienced buyer’s remorse? Maybe you bought something significant on a whim like a new car or the latest cool gadget, without thinking it completely through, and a few days or weeks later you wonder why you now own something that doesn’t really deliver what you were expecting.

These same experiences can occur in the service provider and telecommunications industries. There’s a lot of hype around the latest technologies saving money, increasing revenues, and expanding wallet share with customers.  Meanwhile, are service providers really getting the business benefits they expect from these technologies? As consumers, most of us don’t even think much about these challenges. Instead, we’re focused on finding improvements for our lives and economic well-being by searching for choice both in the goods and services that we consume, and in how we consume them.

2018: The year of open source networking for CSPs

The communications service provider (CSP) industry continues to show signs of disruption and transformation. Many CSPs are abandoning the closed, proprietary infrastructures of the past for more agile and open ones in order to offer services more quickly and support tech-savvy customers with a host of new and evolving expectations. These CSPs are making plans for 5G, continuing deployment of network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN), and are moving forward with new services to use edge computing.

MWC 2018 – Are we there yet? How long until we get to 5G?

It was quite the hectic but extremely successful week here at Mobile World Congress 2018 – the world’s largest mobile industry gathering with more than 100,000 attendees, which added to the hubbub of cultural, sporting, entertainment, industry and gastronomical diversity that is Barcelona.

This year’s Mobile World Congress began with a challenge and opportunity for operators to push the boundaries of today’s mobile ecosystem and help drive the future of the digital economy through innovation. A focus on 5G permeated the event every day, from keynotes and presentations, to demos and announcements, all the way down to the exhibit floor. The internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence, connected cars, new devices, and blockchain were also highlighted throughout the week. Red Hat readies demos for Mobile World Congress 2018

Mobile World Congress 2018 is just around the corner, and here at Red Hat we’re gearing up to demonstrate some exciting new technologies with our partners and customers in our booth at the show, Feb. 26 – Mar. 1, in Barcelona. Red Hat’s ready for Mobile World Congress 2018

It may still be two months out, but buzz is building for Mobile World Congress 2018. Billed as the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry, the conference will be held Feb. 26 – Mar. 1 in Barcelona. There will be keynotes and panel discussions, a product and technology exhibition featuring 1,700 exhibitors and much more. As many as 100,000 people are expected to attend the four-day event to network, showcase and exchange ideas, and plenty of Red Hat employees, partners and customers will be among them. We’ve got a booth, demos and a keynote!
