Since 2007, the Red Hat Innovation Awards have recognized Red Hat's global customers for the transformative projects and outstanding results they have experienced with Red Hat’s open source solutions. Submissions will be accepted until Nov. 8, 2017, and will be evaluated by a panel of business and open source technology experts.

SIX operates an infrastructure for the Swiss financial sector and provides financial services for businesses around the world. SIX is setting out to modernise, consolidate and standardise its IT infrastructure so it can bring innovations to market much quicker, helping to generate more value for customers and the business.

What sets up an open source project for success? Is it a dedicated community? Star power? A clever name and an even cleverer concept? It turns out that behind almost every great open source project is the support of a great organization or enterprise.

Red Hat helped kick off Project CHAOSS, which stands for Community Health Analytics Open Source Software. This project, announced at the Open Source Summit in Los Angeles, is making available new open source tools from Red Hat and Bitergia which make it easy to collect and evaluate trends among open source projects.

At the core of any DevOps initiative is the judicious employment of containers and microservices, which dramatically speed up and simplify the jobs of developers and operations teams alike. While many of the tried-and-true rules of IT management apply, containers and microservices also add new considerations, and new ways of doing things.
